More than 100 people gathered at the lovely home of Ruth and Larry Molina, on Friday July 29, to learn more about the activities of The Opera Society, an affiliate of Florida Grand Opera.
The guests were treated to sumptuous hors d’oeuvres and wine while they spoke to Opera Society officers and members about the group’s fund-raising events. President Kim Naimoli and First Vice President Ruth Molina welcomed the guests and outlined many of the season’s planned events. They emphasized how fortunate we are, as a community, to have this opera company which, in its 70th season, is one of the oldest arts organizations in Florida.
Second Vice President Eric Koskoff and Membership Liaison Helena Caplan encouraged people to join with membership brochures and schedules for the 2011-2012 Florida Grand Opera performances.
A fabulous wine tasting was followed by a powerful performance of opera arias and Neopolitan songs by tenor Peter Buchi accompanied by pianist Caren Levine, principal coach of the FGO Young Artists.
Marcus Bickler displayed his spectacular artworks poolside and a silent auction completed the evening’s festivities. By the end of the evening, The Opera Society welcomed many new members into their group. Enjoy the photos!!!
