On May 5, fifty members of the Opera Society were treated to spectacular views of Fort Lauderdale from the Top of Pier 66, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, which was the site of the annual Installation Membership Luncheon. Ande Mayhue and Linda Balent graciously chaired the event.
Before the Installation Linda Balent presented outgoing president, Barbara Parent, with a lovely bracelet from the Board of Directors. Barbara thanked Linda and all of the board members and committee chairmen for all their support over the last two years.
Richard Freshwater, CFO of Florida Grand Opera, did the honors of installing the 2010-2011 Officers: Gloria Kline, President; Carol Frei, 1st Vice President; Eric Koskoff, Membership; Betty Young, Public Relations, Ruth Molina, Recording Secretary, Isobel Sturgeon, Corresponding Secretary and Linda Grabowski, Treasurer.
Having some fun with his former college professor, Rich presented Gloria with a crown and scepter. Gloria thanked Rich and announced that he would be leaving FGO to become the CFO of the Cincinnati Symphony. Visit this site. Gloria presented Rich with a parting gift and wished him well.
Robert Heuer, CEO and Managing Director of Florida Grand Opera, congratulated Gloria and the new officers, and spoke about the remaining opera for this season Carmen-and gave an explanation about the chairs on the set!
