American soprano Page Michels returns to Florida Grand Opera for the 22/23 season performing the roles of Carolina in Cimarosa’s El matrimonio secreto and Lauretta in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi. She recently completed the Brown Lorranger Fellowship with SongFest in San Francisco, CA working with composers such as Jake Heggie and John Musto. Last season with FGO, she performed the roles of Lucy in Fellow Travelers and A Page in Rigoletto while also placing as a 2022 Oregon District Winner with the MET Opera Laffont Competition. Following the completion of her graduate work in May 2021 at Rice University under the tutelage of Dr. Stephen King, she joined the Aspen Music Festival for their 2021 season as a Fleming Artist headed by world–renowned soprano, Renée Fleming, covering the role of Pamina in Die Zauberflöte. An avid lover of art song, she presented and titled her Master’s II recital, “Oleaje“, or “sea foam“, following the COVID–19 cancellation of her scheduled performance of Elisa in Händel’s Tolomeo. The 2018/2019 season brought the advent of her studies at Rice as Ms. Michels sang the title role in Susannah with Rice Opera under the baton of Houston Grand Opera’s artistic and music director, Patrick Summers, and directed by Loren Meeker. Summer 2019, she joined Des Moines Metro Opera as an Apprentice Artist where she study–covered Mimì in La Bohème. Passionate about concert and oratorio work, she has been the soprano soloist in Dvořák’s Te Deum and Bach’s B Minor Mass.
