Polish-American bass Alex Kolyszko is ecstatic to be a Studio Artist with Florida Grand Opera this season. In 2023, he considerably enjoyed his summer as a Studio Artist with Wolf Trap Opera, performing in the choruses of Semele, Faust, and Don Giovanni. Also in 2023, he debuted as a Young Artist for Cedar Rapids Opera’s production of Così fan tutte (Chorus), as well as covering the role of Don Alfonso. Performing in Chicago Opera Theater’s 2022 production of King Roger (Szymanowski) was thrilling for him. Other credits include Grandpa Moss/The Tender Land/Copland and Le Roi/Cendrillon/Massenet (Chicago Summer Opera, 2022), as well as Morales in Vizin Productions’ The Story of Carmen (Bizet). In 2021, he studied the role of Bartolo in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro (CCPA), and in 2020, he performed as Le Baron de Pictordu in Viardot’s Cendrillon (CCPA). Other previous roles include: Leporello/Don Giovanni/Mozart (cover study – WTO), He/Grimbald/Frost Genius/King Arthur/Purcell (cover – CCPA), Guglielmo/Così fan tutte/Mozart (reading – CCPA), and The Bonze/Commissioner/Madama Butterfly/Puccini (reading – Opera Reading Project).
