Renée Korbel Quinn

Reneé QuinnRenée Korbel Quinn was born on February 7, 1960, in Monterey, California. After a brief stint in New Jersey, she moved to South Florida in 1969. She attended Saint Ambrose, Cardinal Gibbons and Deerfield Beach High School. Like most teenagers growing up in South Florida, she partook in Spring Break, and enjoyed her favorite local bands at old haunts like Flanagan’s, Art Stock’s Playpen, The Button on the Beach, Penrod’s and The Candy Store.

She planned to attend The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale to study fashion design and graphic arts, but in 1978, she joined First Federal of Broward (predecessor to Glendale Federal), and her now 30-year banking career was born.

In 1994, Renée started Comerica’s Fort Lauderdale Private Banking office and began participating in the Fort Lauderdale community. She joined BNY Mellon Wealth Management in the summer of 2006 where she currently specializes in relationship management in the Fort Lauderdale/Las Olas market. Renée has been able to combine her background in banking and her astute relationship skills with her passion for nurturing the community in which she lives, works and plays.

Renée has many great strengths and positive leadership qualities, and one that stands out is that of “connector.” With her position in wealth management and her long-standing community ties, she has many resources at her disposal, and has brought them time and again to the charities that she serves. Renée always has the interests of the community at heart, and is always thinking of ways that she can creatively help. She constantly looks for win-win opportunities in out-of-the-box ways.

Renée is most proud of her work with the Riverwalk Trust in Downtown Fort Lauderdale where she began volunteering on the Special Events & Marketing Committee and served as president from 2004-06.

Under her direction, Riverwalk Trust enjoyed two consecutive, record fiscal years, record membership numbers and record event income, resulting in the almost doubling of Riverwalk’s assets. She has time and again lent her managerial expertise in guiding key staffing initiatives as Riverwalk has continued to grow.

In her perfected role of connector, Renée has secured several key community partnerships that have assisted Riverwalk Trust with the execution of its mission to build a more vibrant Downtown Fort Lauderdale community. She was instrumental in the past year in assisting Winterfest execute its decision to move the popular Boat Parade to the New River. Renée currently serves on the executive committee, and remains active in a “special projects” role.

In addition, Renée is active with:

  • Florida Atlantic University’s President’s Community Council for Broward
  • Winterfest
  • A Child is Missing Alert Advisory Board
  • Special Olympics of Broward County
  • Emerge Broward as a founding member

She was recently asked to join the Royal Dames of Cancer Research, a cause very important to her after losing her mother to cancer in 2005. She is a member of:

  • Pinion
  • Women’s Way
  • Leadership Broward Class XXV
  • Gold Coast Jazz Society
  • The Opera Society

Renée’s cinematic hobbies include anything Mod Squad related, crime dramas from the 1960s and 1970s, Hitchcock and horror movies. She loves to cook – it must be the Sicilian heritage – researching family history and computer photography. Her music interests range from Cheap Trick, Queen and Heart, to Boston, Journey, The Bee Gees, Rat Pack tunes and the music scene from 1968-1975 in particular.

In 1983, she married her favorite musician, Mike Quinn. Renée and Mike have a niece, Meaghan, and a nephew, Will, and two cats, Crush and Hemingway, who adopted her and Mike during their current home renovation in Deerfield Beach. She has a sister Lisa and a brother John. One of her biggest fans is her Uncle Charlie, who encourages and shares her creative side.
